Thanks for sorting videos. It was getting late when I tried to upload them and made several attempts to edit the post but was unable to link or insert them successfully. I also typed a longer message twice but upon submitting they disappeared into the ether somewhere!
I am using an IPad and android phone to access the forum so there may be an issue there, this may be the case as I don't seem to be able to preview a message before submitting. Next time I will try the desktop.

I'm a struggler with computers, ipads, tablets and the like - like most guys of my generation. But writing/editing is so much easier with a proper PC.

Mark and John's videos show the difference between rocket ('jet') propulsion and EDF. EdF is great, and an 18 mm diameter unit looks very promising, but it does lack the speed and smoke, and, a plus or minus according to your character, the unpredictability.

I have noticed the same thing on my pc so it's not the tools you are using. Where it say's it's logged you out though, you will find the thread you wrote is still there but unposted. Just log in again and when you find the post you just wrote, check it and submit it - quick. I don't preview it because it doesn't seem to do anything.

As has been posted above I too attended this lovely event in company with my brother Clive who has put a video clip on YouTube of the two of us flying there.. Sorry no jets are included although I took plenty of them although only two show on the opening shot and in my pic below, mine are the nearest ones. The DH Comet which I had broken on Saturday was flying again splendidly on Sunday.


My models, many still in the boxes, I flew various profiles , the DH Comet, Vickers Valiant with L2HP’s, Boulton Douglas Skyray with an L2, Paul P111A, Supermarine 508, and Bill Dean’s Spook (enlarged) with L2LT’s. Nearly as many as Roger Simmonds.




A couple of times my models, the Comet and the 508 gave me a long walk over the road and in fact it took me quite a time to find the 508 in the foot high corn crop, we walked past it three times before seeing it glinting in the sun from much further away. I must teach my models not to glide in a straight line all the way downwind! Next time out to this end I will try offsetting the motor on some models just a touch with a tiny bit of opposite turn on the rudder.

Something I really enjoyed seeing was Chris Richards’ Jetex 50C powered KK Skyjet which climbed up beautifully, not only that is was smokeless and silent and glided away nicely, demonstrating perfectly that there is still enough power and plenty of magic in them there engines.

A great meeting with lots of Rapier activity on both days, too much to watch in fact if you were also trying to get some action going, fun though.
