Hi Roger.
Fantastic pictures!
I think the plastic parts will be strong enough, I presently print them in PLA, because it is easiest, but both ABS and Nylon are possible to use . There is even fiberglas reinforced filament.
The 3D-printer gives another advantage, it can print complex shapes. As can maybe be seen from the pictures below, I can print the parts in one piece instead of ihalves, which makes them a lot stronger.

And here a few pictures of the real thing, which of course did not fully match the simulation. After all, wood is a living material, but with very minor adjustments, this may actually work.

Now I have measured the original springs, but my favorit spring manufacturer has moved to a place far away, so I will have to look around for someone else in the vicinity who can make the replica springs. Meanwhile I will continue with the base and pylon

The fruits of last weeks work, finally, the ramp is coming together.

The parts for the pylon. I have used double thickness plywood compared to the original, that saves me some laminations.

And the completed pylon.

The base is quite straight forward, so here are all the major parts for the ramp.

And finally, all the parts assembled. Now I just wait for the springs so I can make the final assembly and start the trials. I plan to make a dummy rocket with approximately the right weight and size for the first tests with the catapult.

Hi Gunnar,
Really excellent work , I think the original wood was lubricated with lead or graphite, probably the former one. Not sure if there is a better more modern lubricator with p.t.f.e or such like, but I expect graphite is still relevant. Keep it up, fantastic effort.
Yours,
Andy.

I have known Peter Cock for many many years , flown all sorts of models with him in the new forest as a member of the Southampton model aircraft club. Last week have been told he is still well although not as active as he used to be. Ill try to get to Peter and introduce him to your project and progress - im sure he would be very interested -- well done TB

I have been searching for plans or a kit anywhere online and had only come up with info from the archive site so far until last week when I stumbled on your thread. If you could please contact me I would be immensely grateful!! This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
