Hi Guys,
we had quite the best flying at this venue for some years, despite persistent rain on Saturday that started just after two in the afternoon and became a deluge as the day wore on. But, like Saturday, Sunday was calm, and sunny and dry all day. This went against the forecast (wet until two pm and beeezy) which may explain why some jetexinistas weren't there. This was a pity!

Nevertheless I was pleased Tony Butterworth, David Bott, John Woodham, the Digbys, Raniel Rackstraw, Andy Blackwell, John Holman (he of "Jetex John's story", see:
www.jetex.org/index.php/jetex-forum?view...d=6&id=291&mesid=719 )were there.
Many rocket flights were flown on both days, with T-38 Talons, F-100 Super Sabres, Vipers, Sharkies, Wrens, MiG 15s, Lansen, Drakens and Alpha Jet, to name just a few, doing their stuff.
So busy was I flying I took no photos  :( but I will report further on the models and flying on these two slelndid days when I have the energy!

As you can see from Mark's video, we had a good time on Saturday (where were you on the Sunday?) , and John in particular had some outstanding flights.
Below are some photos and thoughts:

Above: John about to launch. I forget what this lovely little tailess German 'might have been' model is called. Note the windsock. That's the way I like to see them!

Above: John's model skimmed the ground after his launch and then climbed away wonderfully.

Above: It was good to see Daniel Rackstraw there with his son. Daniel also flew a Jetex Sharky with great aplomb, but here he is launching his Bell XS-1. The Rapier seemed a little low on power for this flight but the extended shallow 'climb out' was great whilst it lasted!

In contrast, my normally oh-so.-stable and reliable Draken was a bit overpowered by what purported to be a Rapier L-2 LT:

I hope the new motors Dr Zigmund will be bringing over in July will be more reliable! :S

Above: The current Rapier L-1's are more reproducible. Here is Chris Richards launching his L-1 powered Jetex Wren on a beautiful sortie.

Here is Chris Richard's L-1 powered Wren in flight:

Just beautiful!

Andy Blackwell also had some good flights with his ever-reliable Alpha Jet:

It was good to see John Woodham join us. Here he is with his large Wren for Jetex 50:

Above: I'm holding my F-100 Super Sabre, which managed a couple of excellent flights and used up a lot of my old (and not too predictable) motors. John was able to trim out his Wren using Rapier L-2's of varying thrusts and had some lovely flights that required long retrieves.

Above: old motors are always a bit of a lottery, and the F-100 is quite particular about the thrust it has up its jet pipe: too low and it just glides into the ground, too much and it loops and cavorts into the ground:unsure: . But 'just right' and it looks great in the air!

Above: the T-38 is less fussy about motors. This one is really for Jetex 50 power, but here is being trimmed out with a Rapier L-2.

Abiove: a bit 'stally' but not too bad.

It was good to see Tony Butterworth and Dave Potts on Saturday:

Dave flew his well campaigned MiG 15:

And Tony his very relable Jetex Viper

Well, that's just a few momentos of a couple of good days. I hope more of us will be there in July!B)
