Hi guys,

The good news is that L-2 and L-1 motors are available and their performance is well up to the mark.

On the evidence of the Old Warden meeting in May, the L-2 motors of all types are well behaved, though Andy Blackwell says the latest types need drilling out if you are lighting with a fuse. Dr Z appears to be plugging the nozzles with a waxy compound. Not a problem, though, if lighting with a cauterizer tool.

Both Andy and I Andy had a blow-out with L-1s at Old Warden, but nothing too alarming.

Please contact me for latest availability.

Above: Rapier igniters, aka Bovie cautery tools, can be bought on-line. (a search for 'cautery tool should do the trick). SAMS Models in the UK also keep these in stock.

These are sold as 'use and throw away', but for our purposes can be modified to tak eup to 3 AA batteries and new 28 SWG Nichrome wire.

A couple of these potent tools will last a full day's flying; they will light even difficult motors, and have lead to the taditional greeting on the flying field, " Is that an igniter in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?" :S
