Hi Guys,
the weather forecast was non-too-good for the scale weekend, one colleague advising we take wellies (boots) and an anchor. So wet and windy was the distinct possibility. In the event it was dry and quite calm at 10 o''clock on the Saturday, so I tottered on to the flying field and had a good time with my newly-glued-back-together Jetex Wren (which flew as well as it ever did), my L-1 powered Lansen and the smaller Draken. I even risked the Draken with an L-2X and was rewarded with an outstanding sortie. This thrilled our prestigious visitor from the US, Paul Morris:

Above: Paul with the L-2 powered Draken. Paul was a very keen Rapier flyer until they became unavailable in the US. So I told him about the new Maker Research Labs X-1 motors and I hope he will follow this up. ;)

Andy Blackwell turned up soon after Paul; his Alpha Jet made a splendid recce of the field, landing inside the hedge, and his just-trimmed larger T-38 made a truly outstanding flight with an L-2X up its jet pipe.

Above: happy rocketeers! Andy is holding his Alpha Jet after a long retrieval (Andy had been looking for it when I spotted it 50 feet from an equally long fly-away with my just-landed Wren. Strange, but lucky!).

The skies then opened (like, it really, really deluged) to I retired in a sodden heap to the car.

Above: before the storm - Lansen, Draken, Alpha Jet, large T-38, Wren and smaller T-38. All flew well in the comparatively benign conditions before the heavens opened! :S

Dr Zigmund was there with many motors (but no L-3s (a pity) and Tony Butterworth arrived in the damp afternoon with his Jetex Viper.

I hope Tony will give a full report of Sunday''s flying (he says the Rapier, not Jetex, powered Viper went very well) so watch this space! :cheer:

Hi Guys,
I hope Tony will post his marvelous report about his Jetex Viper that went so well. Dr Zigmund had a lot of enquiries on the field and at the end of the day presented Jan with his Viper:

Above: Dr Z with Tony's Viper. Tony is on Dr Z's left. I have already posted Tony templates to make two more. Anyone else like the templates or a 'part kit'? :)
