The initial thrust peak common to these sorts of motors should be ignored and the model launched when you get a steady fizz.

I instigated a rocket duration competition last year and supplied the latest L-1 motors for competitors. My observations then, and experience of the L-1 motors in my own models indicates a thrust of healthy 100 mN. I had some long retrieves!:)

Thank you for the plan advice, I have downloaded the Snowflake II and plan to build one in the future. I think that should be a more ideal size and weight for a better climb.

I built another plane using wing and tail from an old E20 plane. The fuselage stick is spruce, fuse DT system. The weight without motor is 17 grams.

I have downloaded and printed full-size the Snowflake II plans and will build that soon. Someone sent picture of how they extended nose on Snowflake for Rapier so I did that with my plane.

Waiting for better flying weather.

Roger, Thank you so much for your advice about the Snowflake, it does appear to be perfect in performance for the TSP L1 motor. Unfortunately it flew away on the first flight but it was so wonderful to watch that flight. I am building at least one more right away and adding a small tracker. It does seem to me the thrust varies on the motors, with some being stronger than others.
