Love it Roger...sold!

Roger adds:

I doubt Daniel will have time to build an Aermacchi 346. He's already very busy - here is his Flitzer ready for paint:

and his next project?

This EAP, a forerunner of the Typhoon, is an interesting (and fairly recent, 1987) design that appeared in the Aero modeller. The designer states it's 'for Jetex 50 motors' but I don't think one is indicated on the plan. There was one, I remember, at old Warden some years ago:

but I don't remember how, or even if, it flew.

I look forward to Daniel's 'take' on this one! :cheer:

Rob has just finished his 'mk 5' version of the Am 346 plan. We are now happy with it., so Rob can start on the coloured template.

It's a tad larger than before, to take the new TSP L-2 motor, but there is plenty of wing area so this shouldn't be a problem. If anyone would like a 'proper' version of the plan, just ask!

My spies tell me that, following this triumph of CAD, Rob is looking at a TSR 2. The fuselage, he says, is 'very long'.

Years ago I made a profile version of the EAP for the slope with r/c, it looked good and flew fine until it hit some turbulence, it stalled and spun down, backwards!!!! i guess the CG and decalge were up the creek! I binned it in frustration. Shame.

I now have a copy of the October 1987 Aeromodeller, which happily still had the full size plan in it. John Watters (the designer) wrote a nice accompanying article about building and trimming his EAP., which was apparently adequately powered by an old Jetex 50.

The plan shows it is actually quite large for Jetex50 ( 18" long, around 13" span) but it is quite lightly built and the photos show it as unpainted.
I guess, though, that even with a bit of sheeting and a proper paint job, it would be perfect for TSP L-3. If anyone would like a copy of the plan and a photocopy of Watters' article, please let me know. :)

**update** So unfortunately the Super sabre is on the back burner, I am awaiting a new kit from VMC as the supplied came with all former and rib numbers burned all the way through the balsa thus weakening to the point of unusable. Now I could scratch build it but I'm lazy and fancied a laser cut kit for a change, VMC are adjusting the over zealous laser settings and reburning a new kit so all good. Meanwhile the Typhoon EAP is a go. Will it fly? We shall see, I still have circa 10 models to get a trim on thanks to the force 9 gales at Old Warden back in Sept. Keep well all I will post EAP build pics soon.
