So finally here is the finished detailing on the snow camo Harrier I posted about a month ago. The canopy was copied from the net but the exhausts were drawn in Autocad and the insignia roundels and fin flashes are painted, all on ‘Layout Paper’. Before sticking these paper parts on with a glue stick, I decided it might be fun to make the flat fuselage look a bit more 3D with some ‘tromphe l’oeil’ effects by putting some shading on the camo and this is the result. It is not perfect I know, there’s the odd bloop here and but I am happy with it and will call it done. If you can spot the deliberate (not) mistake, let me know!!

Close up on the painted surface, the paper and paint have added 2.1g, so about 8% of the total in flying trim of 25g (an estimate at this stage)

Just to show the fuselage is perfectly flat

The camo looks quite effective against a disruptive background, ahem, my workbench, don’t you think?

Looking good, Howard, you are a true artiste. Where will the motor go? Or motors, of course - I take it you are going for VTO?

Thanks Roger, the motor is in the same place hanging below the fus as shown in my post above about a month ago. Sorry it is not two of them for VTO, that would be a blast and probably the end of the model on the first take off, especially if they did not light up together, ha ha.

The painting is exquisite Howard!
Taste with the Pilot in the cabin too!

And I have just finished preparing these sets for 2022, for example the F5D Skyray:

Roger adds:

Just Splendid! Is it for L-2 or L-2HP? :)

I have been evangelising 'TSP rocket flying' for some time now, and posting off motors to quite a few folk, and asking for photos and details of the models they will o fly. I hope it bears fruit and these 'returnees to rocketry' will stay in touch.

One such is Rodger Reese, who has a small fleet of scale models ready to go, but who, sensibly, started with a simple L-1 powered model to learn (or relearn) the basics. The model Rodger chose is the 'Jetstream', a Ray Malmstrom design published in 'Model Aircraft' in (I think) 1962 or 1963. As you can see, he's made a splendid job of it:

Rodger also sent me a copy of the plan for our archives:

It was originally designed for a Jetex 50C, so Rodger has reduced the span to 13" from the original 19".

I think the original would go very well with a TSP L-2. :cheer:

I wish I had more correspondents like Rodger!

The Skyray will be powered by TSP L-2 engines as is too light (20g balanced, without motor and hopper) and too small (260mm wingspan) for the TSP L-2HP.
Below I present another profile, the Dessault-Dornier Alpha Jet set intended for propulsion using the TSP L-1, its span is 240mm and the weight is 12 grams without the engine and the container.

Roger adds:

Piotr, these colourful models just get better and better! When will they be available as kits? B)
