With all the Jetex Plans we have collected for the Jetex Plans Section , nearly all of them are either photocopied from magazines or original prints and some can be quite poor quality due to the format they were created in. Zooming in can make them quite blurry.

A few years ago, I remastered a design from 4 images and I really enjoyed doing it. Since then, I've been remastering a plan once in a while that I find interesting. I am currently working on the Miles M.52 jetex model.

The result allows for crisp, clear plans that will print at 400dpi. Zooming in within the file means no reduction in quality.

I thought I would share what I do and wonder if others out there have done or are doing the same.

As Howard has posted, 'Briliant, I love it'. I'm pleased the plan now comes complete with all the formers. ;)
Richard Crossley's Miles M 52 is a splendid design and completes a trio of similar early post war experimental reaction-propelled designs that include the Bell X-1S, Bell X-1E.
We have plans for all of these. :)

Similarly, Rob Smith recently gave the venerable Skyleada Avro 707 a makeover using his CAD skill set:

Here is Ray Booth's original:

And below is Rob's update:

Above: note Rob has changed the Jetex motor the design for a Rapier/TSP type, and modified the wing to match the (rather nicer, in my view) cranked wing of the production Vulcan.

Another splendid pan that deserves to be better known is Mike Stuats's SAAB J29 Tunman:

Unusually, this is for L-1. As these motors are now likely to become the most readiliy available and reliable, the tunman would be an excellent choice for your next scale project. The plan (see our plans section) is adequate ... just.

As to the many other old and not so old plans that need Dave's (or Rob's) 'wash and brush up', your suggestions are very welcome!

:cheer:

The SAAB J-29B is definitely on my list - and also to build. ;)

Here is a comparison of the original photocopy and the remastered version. It doesn't matter how far in you zoom - being a vector file - it will always remain clear.

Roger adds:

When I was recently restoring/recreating the venerable FROG Aeroscout RTF chuck glider:

All I had were good photocopies of the orginal silk-screen printed balsa parts. The printing was quite 'fuzzy'. For example, the instructions on the wing were hardly legible (bottom left):

I was able to clean it up and make it legible in my favoured (but now antiquated) Paintshop Pro 9 (above, right) but I'm sure dave could have done better with his sophisticated software and CAD skills. :cheer:

Is it too late for me to learn?

I’d quite like to build the Vulcan with the updated leading edge. Is that plan complete? (Plus it’s an easy paint job in anti flash white).

Roger adds:

OK squire, I'll email you the plan! B)
