The guys here may find this link interesting. Secret War with a forward by the Neville Shute. This, free download as PDF, describes many of the activities of the wartime British Navy research unit that Shute was involved with. Many, many of the projects involved rockets but perhaps the most of interest is chapter 16, The Toyshop, which describes activities around the rocket powered air target that I think also involved Messers Wilmot Mansour, not unfortunately mentioned by name.

Apologies if this is old news!

Hi Terry,

I interviewed Bert Judge, who worked with Shute.Bert Judge of course then went to work at Jetex. So I would love to find a copy of the book. Who is the author? I couldn't find the link - could this be emailed to me?

Thanks

Roger

Thanks Andy.

I somehow missed the reference to the author. My poor post-op, post-anaesthetic brain is still fuzzy ... I found a copy of the book on Abe book-search. It is duly ordered - something for a holiday I think.

I think you'll enjoy the book.

You may also find, http://www.nevilshute.org/ of interest.
I got there after rereading Shute's, Trustee from the toolroom. There are not many books which feature model makers as the main character. 'Flight of the Phoenix' being the only other one I can think of.

Best wishes from Bavaria. Not too much rocketry going on here, these days it's 3D printing and Quadcopters.

regards
Terry Kidd
