Hi guys,

As you will know from our TSP Motor Thread, these splendid motors are now readily available and are a convenient and reliable way to get rocketeerring.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Piotr Tendera, the brains behind TSP motors, has been busy develepong a range of colourful kits for his motors. He has now sent me three examples:

Above: the very nicely packaged tIskra (for L-2HP); Mig 19 (for L-2) and Gripen (for L-1).

The contents do not disappoint:

Above: each contains all you need to get you started. Note especially the nicely produced fuselage, wing and stabiliser parts ready for assembly, a motor mount, a splendid set of decals and (a nice touch) glue and paint.:)

There are of course also instructions and an annotated plan, for example, the Gripen below:

I'm unable to build any of these models myself at the moment, (:( ) so if there is anybody out there who would like to put one together (posting photos and comments on this thread) please let me know and we can go from there.

I am happy to supply motors for this 'beta testing' and look forward to hearing from you. :cheer:

These kits look great Roger, well done to Piotr Tendera. I am very happy to have a go beta Testing one of these beauties.

Roger adds:

Thanks Luke. The Iskra is probably the best one to start with. I'll post it off to you.

Any other takers out there?

The Vintage model Company (VMC) are taking orders for Piotr's TSP profile kits:

This is good news, and VMC's description of the kits is both complete and very positive.

I started (and finished!) building the Spark (Iskara) Jet this evening. The build time was about 25 mins and the kit went together very easily. As Roger, and others, have noted this is probably one of the most comprehensive kits of this kind available, with glue, paints and even a tiny paintbrush!

All parts were beautifully precut and prepainted. The instructions are very comprehensive and maybe a little hard to follow at times. The build, however, is really just a matter of assembling the parts, setting the dihedral for the wing and glueing everything together. It is all very intuitive and is very beginner-friendly and I happily added some of the decals and painted the motor holder red to match the fuselage.

The model can be built as a simple catapult glider ( with an optional hook provided) or is designed to take the L2 HP motors.
My immediate impressions are that it's a very robust model which finishes rather nicely. Initial glides in the living room and the garden look good, with CG as per the plan.

This seems like a great kit, lovingly prepared, and Piotr Tendera should be congratulated on a fine piece of work.

Watch this space for a further report on the flying!

Many thanks, Luke. My, that was quick! I had only three small quibbles with the model:

1. the need for protection of the fuselage behind the motor with metal tape.

2. the need for a wire catch on the motor mount to stop the motor falling out. Was the motor an easy fit in the mount? I particularly liked the way the motor mount is attached to the fuselage so there is plenty of glue are and it's glued on straight!

3. the need for a 'thrust tab' 5-6 cm behind the motor. Not everyone does this, but it is a great trimming aid!

Two questions.

1. dimensions and weight. The TSP L-2HP is pretty powerful, so any weight under 35g will give the Iskra a dprightly performance (and it might be best to begin trimming with a TSP L-2). Did it need any nose weight to achieve the recommended CG?

I look forward to glide, and flying, reports. I have the motors!

Hi Roger,

The kit mentioned some metal tape, but I couldn't see any included, I will add some myself. There is not a wire catch for the motor, but it is a snug fit, I can easily add one.

The weight is 30g without motor and CG was spot on without the need for ballast.

We'll see how it trims out!

Luke

Roger adds:

wire clips really are necessary we have found and easy to make. 22 SWG or similar is adequate.
