Hi guys,

I've had a most interesting conversation with Tim Arlen, about a hitherto unknown Jetex model car. Tim first wrote:

" I have a “Sizzler Super Speed Racer” made by Enterprise, designed by Paul Del Gatto in the original box (unmade with all parts there), but I can’t find any information about it. Any thoughts?"
I had no thoughts at all apart from, "Wow!" Tim then sent two photos:

This helped an Internet search - surely google would come up with something? Alas, no, and even a search of Paul Del Gatto's archives left us none the wiser as to who 'Enterprise' were nor when this really quite classy model, which is similar to Paul Del Gatto's 'Satellite Racer' manufactured by Telasco. :S

Has any forum member come across the Sizzler? Any info gratefully received. B)

Rather to my embarassment, I discover that we had included details of the Sizzler Racer in our initial 'History of Jetex' when we (John Miller Crawford, I and others) set up jetex.org more than twenty years ago. See:

archivesite.jetex.org/models/kits/kits-cars_boats.html

I had completely forgotten about this.

I'd like to put a tether on one of these and run it at the car circle at OW.

Daniel is spot on about his wish that rocket-propelled tethered cars would be a feature at our meetings. I would love to see an L-3 or L-4 powered Sizzler wowing the crowds at OW. We may have to keep our toys separate from the proper i/c powered tehered cars, but with enough support, it could be done. ;)

I would also like to see the revival of RTP 'Jetex' type aeroplanes. These were popular in 1960's clubhouses and I can tell you, boy, did the go!
Indoor RTP with TSP-type motors is obviously inadvisable (noxious fumes, etc) but in a large open air hanger, they could be fun. There are any number of vintage RTP models out there just waiting. :cheer:

Back to the Sizzler Racer, I have only just remembered that Enterprise also made a similar hydroplane:

Rocket-propelled hyrdroplanes, as Andy Blackwell can tell us, are great fun, but we haven't seen any for many years. Again, there are some venerable designs out there. :)
