Having now seen the motors in the flesh, they look very good. They seem fairly easy to ignite, give a yellowish smoke with a different and not so fruity smell. Thrust seems well centred by the nozzle and consistant throughout the duration which looked to me around the 20 second mark. Looks good.

Andy.

As Andy says (and he's not an easy guy to impress) the new TSP motors - both L-1 and L-2 looked good on the flying field and we have good stocks of a variety of L-2L motors to suit models which need a low, medium and high thrust.

I shall be testing the motors again over the coming weeks and hope to confirm Piotr Tendera's assurances that his motors have a 'shelf life of four years'.

But, meanwhile, we can plan our winter building program with the confidence we will have the motors to fly them! :cheer:

Lighting motors is a knack, of course, but we will be looking at a bespoke igniter that will glow even in a breeze and last a day's flying.

A little video I made of Sunday's flying session. I was assisted by a friend, his wife and his young daughter who can be heard enthusing in the background.

Looks like you were having a lot of fun here Terry. Good to see the Skyray performing again, must fly mine sometime too. I was pleased to note at Old Warden that the Tendera motors are quieter than Rapiers and more like the old Jetex motors.

Thank you Terry. The flight of the Skray was just outstanding, and I put the usable motor time at around 17-18 seconds.

These TSP L-2s are obviously quite powerful - did you try 'bored out' L-2 or one of the '150mN thrust motors with the Skray?

Terry has just measured the thrust of the latest batches of L-2 motors with the following results:

Terry adds:
The green trace is the July batch; red and grey are deliveries of Sept 7th and 8th respectively (a very nice 150 mN ).
Orange is the Sept 16th pickup.

As I've remarked before, we can plan our 'winter bulding program' with confidence we have the wherewithal to power our models!
