Well, we had a good time. The weather was a lot kinder than we had any right to expect - earlier in the week it had been cold, wet and windy. But on the day it was sunny and quite warm (for the time of year) though the wind was 12-13 mph and, due to thermal activity it could drop of become bustery. It was, however, blowing away from the lakes and along the length of the field. :cheer:

This event had been moved from the previous Saturday due to another event. A good thing, given the storms on Sept 7, but it meant several good folk couldn't be there, so numbers were down.
So us rocketeers, given the pleasant, though tricky, conditions decided to not compete, but to 'just have fun'. Which we did.

Left: sitting in the control tent ready for action! Note the 'Mk 2 igniter' Terry sent me to ensure we had PFA Jet Action. Right: I tested the conditions for flying with my capacitor powered 'Arbalete'. It was definitely more blustery later in the day.

Top Left: Luke Goymour took time off from his day (and night) job as a busy parish priest. Top right: The very Reverend Luke with his Concorde. It climbed well, 'as staright as and arrow' with a new TSP L-1. Bottom left: My Lansen never missed a flight despite the turbulence coming off the trees. Bottom right: Luke's Canberra also went well but appeared a little over-powered with the latest L-2 motors.

Above: did I say we all decided to 'just have some flying fun'? Bert Whitehead arch-doyen of PMFC would not be denied in L-1 duration. His 'Snowflake' climbed well and DT'd within the field.

Others were taking photos. so .....more later .......:)

Below is Luke's Concorde, adapted from the ARTF catapult glider.

And above is Andy Sephton with two 'au naturel' (bare balsa) profiles. Being very light, they flew very well with old L-2 Rapiers which, amazingly, Andy ignited with an old 'Thread Zap'.

Some more photos of this most enjoyable event, courtesy Ruth's new and posh camera. :cheer:

Above: Daniel wisely, given the conditions, kept his genuine Jetex powered Viper on the ground. But his L-2 powered Spacejet went very well indeed.

Above: Bert showing how it's done with his Snowflake. Note the glowing exhaust from the TSP L-1.

Above: the F-100 flew splendidly in the conditions. I'm perhaps launching a little too close to the trees (turbulence!) but did so to take full advantage of the length of the flying field.
