Hi All,
I've been educating myself on this excellent site and have purchased two kits from Vintage Model Company. I also bought some TSP L2 motors, at a _premium_ as I see now from the Spectre post here. I've done R/C thermal soaring a few years ago, but previously had some rewarding free flight models, including with a Jetex 50 really long ago.

One of the kits I bought is a Skyjet50. There is an excellent thread with expert advice here about a build and test of one of these with an actual Jetex 50. Not sure the model looks stiff enough for an L2 motor, given the experience of the previous flyer. Also, can I help avoid sparks by not using fuses, but an igniter with the TSP motors?

So I hope to purchase some TSP L1 motors, either from the old line or if Spectre L1's have appeared.
I also would like to get an igniter like the one for Jetex in the old thread, if available and appropriate for TSP without fuse, so would appreciate a note or link how to purchase these items - can't see details in the menus.

Best to all,
Richard

Hi Richard,
I'd think that the Skyjet 50 would work quite nicely with a TSP L2. If you want to try a very similar configuration, but without the built up wings, try a Vulture. Also by Bill Dean I believe.

A igniter using a loop of nichrome wire is relatively easy to knock together. Simply adjust the length of the nichrome wire to have it glowing red hot (too hot make the loop of wire a bit longer etc). I've used a 7.2v 4000mAH battery. (often used in RC cars) One of these will keep you going all day.

Yes, regarding TSP L1s, I'm currently trying to persuade the guy in Poland who has manufactured the L2 to finish off a batch of L1s, if this works out I'm sure Roger will be able to supply them to you. And also more L2s when you want them.

regards
Terry Kidd

Hi Richard,

we have L-1 motors in stock. One point: Skyjet 50s are usually powered by an L-2 equivelent to the old Jetex 50. These we have in stock.

As to igniters, have a look at:

jetex.org/index.php/jetex-forum?view=top...id=8&id=266&start=42

One tip about the Skyjet: the original dihedral (it's a very early design) is excessive. Do halve it!:)
